As the very first pioneers in the history of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid were posthumously recognized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for their efforts in the establishment of the Federation of the United Arab Emirates in December 1971. In pursuit of their vision to establish a federation of trucial states, they worked tirelessly with their fellow rulers of the Emirates to shape the course of development of the UAE. Today, the UAE occupies a unique and prominent global position.
